The caves of Dhermi beach
Dhermi beach is famous for its caves, most of which are reachable only by boat. These are carstic caves created by the erosion of the sea water in the lime stone of the rocks by the sea.
The mos famous is Al Evra cave also known as The Pirates cave, as it was mentioned in the novel of Petro Marko “The Pirates cave”, which made it famous.
The next interesting cave is the Mermaids cave which is the remaining of a bigger cave which was destroyed by the waves of the sea. What is left is a small cave with an idilic scenery like in the fery tails with mermaids that grandparents would tell to their grandsons and granddaughters in bed.
The Spileo cave, is the biggest of them all and has a small beach in front of it which is reachable only by the sea. It is the most impressive and has many more underwater caves in the East and the South side of it.
